The Middle Ages at first hand - Playing the Middle Ages

Past becomes present

A mediaeval History Park opens its doors - and takes the participants into the world of the Middle Ages. In the middle of a singular setting between authentic buildings from times long past, this day becomes a special experience.

Have a game of history

If it is mediaeval skittels, boating in the dug-out canoe or throwing the javelin - only real team players will make it. Otherwise the boating becomes a wet pleasure. And with some concentration, the arrow will finally hit the mark.

Aims:
  • learning through play and discovering about every-day life in the Middle Ages
  • team experience
  • concentration, creativity and methodological know-how
  • reinforcing community spirit within the class
Facts:
  • available: March to November
  • for groups from 12 persons
  • age: 6 and above
  • contents: experiencing an archaeological open-air museum combined with three activities to be chosen from: playing skittles, shooting with bow and arrows, throwing the javelin and boating in the dug-out canoe.
  • length: 3h, either in the morning (9am till noon) or the afternoon (1pm to 4pm)
  • fees: 19,50 euros per person

Envoys of the King - In search of Wogastis Castle

Travelling with companions

As envoys of the Merovingian crown, the participants have a clear mission: to find the legendary Wogastis Castle of King Samo. Though, you will never reach the aim on your own. Cooperation, respectfulness and confidence are called for if you do not want to come away empty-handed.

Learning by experiencing

The group itself becomes a living museum. Through games and activities, the participants discover interesting and exciting facts about every-day life in the Middle Ages. As a by-product, the community spirit in the class gains in importance. Team experience during different activities supports the sense of community and results in lasting experiences and learning.

  • contents: experiencing an archaeological open-air museum combined with exercises in cooperation and confidence, treasure hunting and either playing skittles, shooting with bow and arrows or throwing the javelin
  • length: 3h, either in the morning (9am till noon) or the afternoon (1pm to 4pm)
  • fees: 19,50 euros per person

 

Full-day programmes

All programmes can be combined, e.g. programme A and B as a full-day programme.

  • fees: 26 euros per person
