Tips for your visit
Please stay on the paths
The designated paths will lead you to all places of the museum. Please stick to them so that the green areas can thrive and prosper.
Sorry, but bikes are not alllowed
Please understand that you cannot enter the site with your bike out of consideration for other visitors.
What about your dog? On the leash, please
Your dog is welcome on the museum site - as long as you constantly keep it on a short leash.
Want a smoke? Only in the beer garden area
Smoking is not allowed on the site and in the buildings - but in the beer garden, you can have a smoke.
Mind your head!
Please keep in mind during your tour of the museum that the buildings are historical renconstrutions: the doors are often low and the stairs steep.
Hungry? – You will find refreshments in the museum café
Small meals and drinks are served in our museum café "Brot&Zeit" that is open on weekends. Please avoid eating and drinking on the site.
Amateur photographers and filmers are welcome to shoot away.
If you want to use your photos or films for commercial or scientific purposes, you must ask permission of the museum management.
Our open-air museum is accessible for wheelchairs.
The paths are fit for wheelchairs and in the main building you find a disabled toilet and a lift. Though, as they are authentic reconstructions, entering the buildings and the motte-and-bailey castle on the site might become difficult. Some houses can only be entered via a couple of steps or passing a threshold.
